Forest United secured a point against FC Barolle at home on Saturday.
In this, the first league match of the new season, Forest Utd were boosted with a fully fit squad to chose from & with competition for places fierce, hopes were high of a positive result.
Forest Utd got off to the perfect start with an early goal. With minutes only being played Adien Thomas started his goal scoring tally this season early with a lovely taken goal. So quick in fact that the Chairman failed to see it & left the match with the belief that the only goal scored during the match had been by FC Barolle!!! Forest Utd created plenty of chances throughout the first half, but some great saves from the FC Barolle keeper, prevented Forest from extending their lead. As the half worn on, FC Barolle began to ceate some chances of their & own caused problems at the back for Forest Utd. The first half ended with Forest Utd 1-0 in front.
The second half appeared to be heading for stalemate with both teams cancelling each other out. Forest Utd created chance after chance. Ryan Munn taking the ball off a FC Barolle defender & creating for himself a one on one chance with their keeper, who did well to spread himself & save Munn's shot. Thomas also managed to fashion a few chances that were also well saved by the keeper. As the match went on it looked like Forest would take the three points for the win. However a FC Barolle player, allowed time on the ball decided to punt or launch the ball upfield. The wind got behind the ball & in a freak moment it went in off the crossbar & into the roof of the Forest Utd goal net. Questions were raised as to the positioning of goalkeeper Krishna Yeppalla but in truth the ball should never of been allowed to be played in the first place. FC Barolle retreated into their half of the pitch & put up a spirited defence for the remainder of the match, preventing Forest from scoring a second & most likely winning goal. The match ended in a 1-1 draw for both teams.
So Forest United gain a point from their first league match of the new season. Next weekend sees the team take on East London Elite, away, who play their home matches at Wanstead Flats, Capel Rd.
